I decided something...
I'm going to run a marathon.
The kicker? I hate running. (side note: Most of you who know me know that this is not new news, but for those who don't know that factoid, there ya go).
So you may be scratching your head at this point... "Elaine? If you don't like running, why are you going to run a marathon?" The answer, my friends, is unclear. Maybe it's because it's something I've never done or because I'm not good at it or just to mark it off my bucket list. I really don't know, but I'm excited for the journey.
I hope to use this blog to track my progress. I'm thinking I will begin by training for a 5k, then go up to a 10k, etc.
Slow and steady wins the race, right? Any advice from my fellow running enthusiasts?
I'm not a runner either, but I've never really put any serious effort into it either. So in that case, why not? I think you'll be great!
ReplyDeleteGet a 'Nano' or really any device to listen to music or audiobooks while you run.
ReplyDeleteI'll have more advice after my 1/2 marathon but I can tell you there is no substitute for putting in a lot of training miles consistently. Good luck Elaine, we're here to support you.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be more fun and motivating if you have someone to run with. Although I also hate running, I've wanted to mark a 5K off my bucket list as well. Let me know if you want to start training together!
