Couch to 5K!

So, I was talking to my awesome friend, Emily, and she told me about this program called "Couch to 5K" (which is, quite literally, what I will be attempting). It's a 9 week training program that tells you exactly what you should be doing for every workout. I am definitely going to try this out!

So these are what I'm working with. I got these adidas last year and I have worn them quite a few times already (for the gym and softball). This will be the first time I'm really putting them through the ultimate running shoe test. We'll see how they hold up!

The goal

I decided something...

I'm going to run a marathon.

The kicker? I hate running. (side note: Most of you who know me know that this is not new news, but for those who don't know that factoid, there ya go).

So you may be scratching your head at this point... "Elaine? If you don't like running, why are you going to run a marathon?" The answer, my friends, is unclear. Maybe it's because it's something I've never done or because I'm not good at it or just to mark it off my bucket list. I really don't know, but I'm excited for the journey.

I hope to use this blog to track my progress. I'm thinking I will begin by training for a 5k, then go up to a 10k, etc.

Slow and steady wins the race, right? Any advice from my fellow running enthusiasts?
